Gertrude was born in Neuhandeslebe, Germany on March 9, 1925 to John David Ernst and Elizabeth Saar. Gertrude was the middle child of seven Ernst children: Betty, John, William, Elsa, Martha, Guenther (all deceased). They were boat people.
They immigrated in 1932, settling in Nova Scotia then later to Quesnel in 1951.
Gertrude is survived by her children: John, Silvan, Randi, Gene and Carol, grandchildren: Dylan, Lindsay, Daniel, Dexter, Charliegh, great grandchildren: Kesler, Madelyn, Kimberly and Makena.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Daniel, all of her siblings, her son Paul, grandchildren: Spencer and Taylor.
Graveside funeral in Quesnel, April 23, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at Tower Inn.
