Gloria Timms

October 12, 2006

Gloria Timms passed away October 12, 2006 in Kelowna, at the age of 51, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gloria was born on April 26, 1955 in Quesnel to Jack and Dorothy Timms and was the baby of the family. She spent her childhood years in Kersley and most of her life in the Quesnel area. She also lived briefly in Vancouver, Calgary, Lloydminster, Alta. and resided in Kelowna for the past 6 years.

Gloria attended Kersley Elementary and QSS. She worked as a chambermaid, waitressed and store clerked as well.

In 1975 Kimberly was born and in 1981 Matthew was born. Gloria raised her children on her own most of the time.

In 1984 Matthew died as a result of a tragic accident at age 3. As it would be for any mother losing a child, Gloria was greatly impacted by her loss.

Gloria was great at sewing. She made her bridesmaid dress and flower girls dresses for her sister Marie’s wedding back in 1970. She was also great at reupholstering.

Gloria loved doing things with her family whether it was celebrating special occasions or just having tea together. She loved to go walking and did her share as she walked to everything that was within walking distance. Gloria was known for her quick wit and loved to talk.

She is survived by her sister Marie (Larry) Smith, daughter Kimberly (Chris) Taylor, brother Gary Timms, nieces Barb (Colin) Good, Sharon Smith and nephew Jason Timms.

She was predeceased by her son Matthew, dad (Jack), mother (Dorothy) and brother Bob.

A memorial tea was held for Gloria at the Kersley Hall, October 21, 2006.

We will miss her dearly, but she is out of pain and at peace now.
