Greta Mildred Paul

May 17, 2007

In loving memory of Greta Mildred Paul who passed away peacefully at the age of 80 at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital on May 17, 2007 after a battle with cancer.

Greta will forever be loved by sons Bill (Diane) Paul of Kelowna, BC, Don (Dottie) of Quesnel, BC, daughters Christine (Everett) Rose of Marystown, Nfld., and Debbie (Reg) Hamer of Quesnel, B.C. She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Victor, Gail, Tara, Kyle, Courtney, Shayne, Kris, Dianne and Jimmy as well as five great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren. Missing Greta as well, are her four sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews.

Greta was born in Hermitage, Newfoundland and lived there until she was 22 years old, then moved to Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Terrace and finally Quesnel where she lived the last 15 years of her life. Along life’s path, Mom enjoyed the great outdoors, whether it was working in her garden, camping, hunting or river fishing. The older she got, the more adventurous she became.

Unfortunately, Mom got osteoporosis which took a toll on her adventures and found herself slowing down considerably. No matter how bad the pain she would make sure she got out every Thursday for lunch with her incredible friends, that called themselves the ‘groovy grannies’. Not only were they groovy, but a very classy group of ladies with whom Mom loved to spend time with.

Mom, you are a very, very special lady, one that we are so proud to call you Mom, Grandma and friend. You are loved by many and will miss you dearly.

The family would like to thank Dr. Grapes, and Dr. Buys who cared for Greta with such great compassion during her short stay in the hospital. And to our wonderful nursing staff, especially Linda Findlay and Kylie Bassett and Jenny Grapes. All of you are phenomenal and Mom could not have been in a better, more caring place. To Karin Lynch a big thank you from my brother Bill and I, for your tremendous support. There were days when we could not have gotten through them if it had not been for you.

To our extended family and wonderful friends, thank you for the cards, flowers, food, gift basket, gift certificates, phone calls, emails, for coming to visit mom and giving us your love and support. We love you and appreciate you. Especially, Violet McGinnis, Gail & Bob Compton, Melba Truesdale, Ruby Back, Cindy Freeman, Inge Neighbour, Wendy Cowlin, Judy Skerratt, Irene Holmberg and to Skeena Rent a Car staff, you know what you did and we can’t thank you enough.

A Celebrate of life will be held at a later date in September for Greta.

As an active member of the Quesnel Osteoporosis, donations would be greatly accepted there or to the Quesnel Palliative Care.
