Harold Hughes

June 1, 2007

Harold was born in Teddington, Saskatchewan on March 5, 1929. He passed away suddenly, at home, on June 1, 2007. Harold had been a resident of Quesnel since 1956.

Harold is survived by his wife, of over 50 years, Barb, children: Kathy (Calvin) Edwards, Randy (Aleta), and Mark (Connie), 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was known as an extremely proud and honest man. He had a heart of gold and would never pass someone in need, even giving up his last dollar. He loved horses and the outdoors. He called things as he seen them, never minced words, and never was one for the fancier things in life. There would never be enough space, or time, to adequately describe Harold and his 78 years. He lived every moment of his life to the fullest. Harold was predeceased by his mother, Katherine, and all seven of his siblings (5 brothers and 2 sisters). He was one of the last, ‘Real cowboys’. We will miss hearing the stories of his life experiences that he so vividly recalled. Regretfully he never did write that best selling book. Maybe he’s sharing it on the other side. We are all extremely blessed to have known him and been loved by him.

A service was held on June 7 at Clayton’s Funeral Chapel and interment followed at the Quesnel Municipal Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Wes Allan for officiating, the Pallbearers, Richard and Ron at Clayton’s and the Quesnel Ambulance attendants.

We would also like to thank friends, neighbors and extended family for all of their support and words of condolence during this difficult time. Bless you all.

Donations in Harold’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
