Hazel Browning

November 4, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of Hazel Browning wishes to announce her passing.

Hazel was born in Fish Creek, Saskatchewan and was predeceased by her parents Harry and Mary Hlady and brother Eugene Hlady.

On November 4, 2007 Hazel passed away at G.R. Baker Memorial after battling a difficult illness with cancer. Hazel and her husband, Richard (Dick) Browning came to Quesnel in 1951. They were married for 63 years and throughout a large portion of that time she provided bookkeeping support for their business, R.G. Browning Enterprises. Her lifelong passions were painting and ceramics, gardening and gold panning with friends. With her wide array of artistic talents, she also enjoyed quilting, sewing, doing cross stitch and many other crafts. As a mother and grandmother, she took a delight in watching her boys play hockey at the local arena and cheering on her grandchildren from the gym bleachers. She was a member of the Quesnel Arts Society, Dunrovin Park Lodge Society and the White Cane Society.

A celebration of Hazel’s life was held at her home with immediate family. Hazel will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Dick, her sons Rodney (Brenda), Brian (Elodieanne) and Brett (Pam), brother Archie (Henny) Hlady, and grandchildren Laura (Brian), Kiley (Chad), Leah (Kirby), Christopher (Michelle and children Aden and Jordan), Lance, Amanda, Blair, Brooke, Richard and Heather.

Those wishing to honor Hazel’s memory by way of a donation may do so to the Quesnel & District Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society.

No funeral service will be held at Hazel’s request.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at G.R. Baker Memorial hospital for the kind care that they provided.
