Henry Stephen Baker (Harry) passed away on June 16, 2005.
Harry was born May 16, 1913 in Brandon, Manitoba. After the death of his mother in 1923 the family homesteaded in Surrey. As a young man Harry was one of the original tree planters in 1930 at the now famous Green Timbers Forest. During the 40’s Harry was a machinist in a Vancouver shipyard and also an active pacifist.
In 1945 Harry, an established poultry farmer married Lucille Timms. In 1946, son Larry arrived followed by Harry in 1947.
Harry and Lucille moved to Kersley in 1949 and developed a ranch on Green Mountain growing registered #1 wheat and certified potatoes. They moved to Mara for a year, returning to Kersley in 1963. Harry built their present home on French Road. There he enjoyed his large bountiful garden, saw milling, carpentry, woodworking, a good political discussion, playing his banjo and being with the family.
