Henry Olaf (Hank) Meyers

Henry Olaf Meyers (Hank) passed away on August 11, 2007 at Dunrovin Park Lodge.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 1:00 pm at Clayton’s Funeral Chapel with Ron Malmas officiating.

Cremation preceded the service, inurned at Quesnel & District Municipal Cemetery.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #94 Honour Guard at the service.

Hank was born July 22, 1922 in Briarcrest, Sask. He was the youngest child of Charles and Anna Meyers. He moved around to various places in Saskatchewan until settling with family in Meadow Lake. He joined the services and went to Italy with the Seaforth Highlanders. It was there he was wounded and returned home.

Hank married Sadie on November 4, 1946 in Meadow Lake, Sask. The couple moved to Quesnel in 1947.

Hank had various jobs including working for Northern Dairies, Weldwood and co-owned Star Service and Auto Wrecking with Dave Schmautz. Hank bought his first truck in 1959 and he and Sadie operated their trucking business until his retirement.

Hank is survived by his sister Florence of Meadow Lake, Sask., son Larry (Wendy), daughters Linda, Wendy (Gene), Carol (Calvin), 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Sadie, sons Ken, Keith, Lorne, grandson Chad, brother Clarence and parents Charles and Anna.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 94, Quesnel.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the ALC Unit, nursing staff at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital, staff of Dunrovin park Lodge, Dr. Buys, Anna Wittebrood for her faithful visits to Hank, Ron Melmas at Clayton’s Funeral for all his advice and help (knit one pearl two), Golden Centre for the tea and all friends too numerous to mention.
