Herman Louis Marceau passed away peaceful on January 8, 2022 at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family in Salmon Arm, B.C. Born May 13,1929 in Archerwill, Sask. to Wilfred and Ann Marceau, he was the third of seven children. Herman was a hard working man who began working with his dad at an early age operating a D7 cat. This is where he found his true passion and his love for machinery. With this skill and knowledge Herman and his older brother Eugene went up to Churchill, Man. to help build the rail line from the airport to town. His next move was to Flin Flon, Man. where he hauled ice for a summer. After this Herman moved to Carrot River, Sask. to run a D7 cat brush cutting and clearing land to farmland. It was here that he meets his sweetheart and soon to be wife Marie. They were married November 1951(for 59 years) in Choiceland, Sask. and shortly after moved to Prince George, B.C. where they had their son Walter in 1953. Moving south to Dunkley, B.C. Herman found himself running cat clearing roads and being a loader operator in the bush. During this time, they lived in one of the Dunkley Lumber camp houses and had their daughter Irene in 1955. In 1960 Herman and his family moved to Quesnel, B.C. After a number of years working for Dunkley Lumber Herman landed a loader man job closer to home where he worked until his retirement in 1994 from Weiers Sawmill in Quesnel. He remained in his Dragon Lake home until his move to Salmon Arm in 2018. Herman was a pioneer and a kind hearted gentleman who was loved by all.
Herman was predeceased by his: mother Ann, father Wilfred, brothers Eugene, Henry and wife Marie.
Herman is survived by his: son Walter (Judy), daughter Irene (Norman), grandchildren Jeff (Nicole), Stacey, Russell, Tammy (Gaetan), great-grandchildren Isaac, Eva, brother Harvey, sisters Alvina, Beatrice, Mary-Jane.
