Jake Neufeld, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on March 5, 2010 at the Hospice House at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Julie, children Gary (Judy) and Dennis (Launa), step-children, Randy (Nita), Marlene (Larry), Brian (Becky), Sharon (George), 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and his brother Willie and sister Adina. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Margaretha, siblings, Olga, John, Frank, Suzie and Margaretha, children Jenny and Jim and grand-child, Michael.

Jake was born August 16, 1928 in Lucky Lake Saskatchewan. In 1942 his family moved to Mission BC and then to Clearbrook, BC. He married Esther Keehn in 1948 in Abbottsford, BC. They had 4 children, Jenny, Jim, Gary and Dennis. Jake was a self-taught electrician and in 1952 he moved to Quesnel and started his own company known as Modern Electric Ltd. He later married Julie Pike on September 29, 1973 and she had 4 children, Randy, Marlene, Brian and Sharon.

Jake loved to fish, go camping, curl, play games like darts, tile rummy and many card games. He loved his garden, especially his prized tomato plants and strawberries. He became a bit of an inventor in later years and made every kind of gadget to make life easier. He had the best sense of humor with many of his signature jokes that he used to tell. He was a dedicated volunteer of the Elks Club and the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. He has had many good friends and good times over the years. Jake was a kind hearted man who was always there when we needed him. We are truly blessed to have had him in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

March 13, 2010 at

Clayton’s Funeral Chapel and a tea at the Golden Centre. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Quesnel and District Hospice Palliative Care Assoc. or the Elk’s Children Fund would be appreciated.
