It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Mallett on January 1st, 2013. After a very short illness at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, British Columbia.

She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia at Grace Maternity on February 23, 1933. She lived in Halifax County until the age of 12 when she moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She worked at the Dominion Stores from the age of 14 to 29. She met her husband, George (Shorty) on a blind date in 1957 and married him that same year on November 25, 1957 at the age 24 in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the HMCS Shearwater. Two years later they moved to Elmsdale, Nova Scotia where they started their family with son Brodrick (Rick) in 1959 and Deirdre (DeeDee) in 1962. In 1964 they moved to Victoria and shortly after moved to Kemano then Prince Rupert, BC where they lived for 6 years. They moved to Golden for a year and then moved to Quesnel in 1973 where she lived for the rest of her years.

While living in Quesnel she worked at Spencer Dickie Drugs (Donex) for

17 years, where she retired at the age of 58. She volunteered with the Millionaires Hockey Association for over 20 years and for the Canadian Cancer society for 27 years. She was active with many different organization and volunteered wherever people were needed.

She is predeceased by her parents Lillian and John as well as her brothers George, Jim and Tom.

Jackie is survived by her husband George (Shorty), half sister Blanche, children; Brodrick (Joanne), Deirdre (Glenn), grandchildren Kristy, Cassandra, Megan, and Kelsey as well as many neices, nephews, cousins and extended family.

There will be a service and tea held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #94, 262 Kinchant Street at 1 pm on January 21st, 2013
