In loving memory ~
Jean passed away just three weeks shy of her 100th birthday, our mom Jean Johnson passed away peacefully the early morning, of February 7, 2025, in Penticton, BC leaving behind a legacy of love, and kindness.
Jean was born in the tiny village of Provost, Alberta on February 28, 1925, and called her beloved town Quesnel, BC her home for over 70 years.
Jean served in WW II from January 1944 to August 1945, she served in Ottawa assisting the service men overseas with mail, and packages, and supporting leaving and returning service men to and from Canada.
Mom was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and volunteered many hours in various positions with the Quesnel Branch 94. Mom received several awards, including the Lifetime Achievement and Award of Merrit of which she was extremely proud, thus demonstrating her lifelong commitment to her fellow veterans and community.
A devoted mother, she was the loving mother of five, Daughter Signe, (deceased) survived by Son, Russell (Dawn), Son Kelly, Son Cameron, and Daughter Tara (Jerry). Stepmother to three, Karen (Ron) Leech, Cecil (Brenda), and Rick (Janette) grandmother of 15, and great-grandmother of 16. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support shaped the lives of those she cherished most. Mom was predeceased by an infant daughter, Signe, in 1960, her loving husband Karl in 2015, and her much-loved stepson Cecil in 2023.
A small graveside service will be held later this year in Quesnel to honour her memory. Her family takes comfort in knowing she lived a long and meaningful life, surrounded by those she loved.
She will be deeply missed
and forever remembered.
