1936-2021 ~ Jillian passed away peacefully in her sleep at Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Lodge in Surrey, BC at the age of 84.
Born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, she was the only child of Douglas and Edith (nee Denning) Fletcher. After immigrating with her parents to Montreal, QB, Jillian moved to BC at the age of 18 and worked as a telephone operator with BC Telephone.
In 1976 Jillian married Francis (Frank) Postlethwaite and together they lived in Madeira Park, Alert Bay, Gibsons, and Chilliwack before settling in Quesnel, BC. For most of her working years, Jillian held various positions as a bookkeeper and tax preparer but, for a time, was also a fisheries patrol officer and school bus driver.
After retiring, Jillian was active for many years with The Auxiliary to the G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital. When Frank passed away in 2011 she later moved to White Rock, a favourite place of hers to visit.
Jillian is preceded in death by her parents, former husband and father to her children, Grant Mathiesen, and loving husband, Frank. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Lawrence), son Ward (Terri), and stepdaughters Lynda (Ted) and Lorrie.
Also survived by her grandchildren Sarah (Alex), Nicole (Matt), Laura (Thomas), Sean, and Amber, as well her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren from her extended family with Frank.
The family would like to thank Weatherby Pavilion/Peace Arch Hospital Pavilion Lodge and the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Lodge for their care of Jillian during her time there.
The family requests those who would like to express sympathy consider making a donation to The Auxiliary to the G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel or the Canadian Cancer Society.
A private service for family will be held at a later date.
