NOVAK, Joe – We sadly announce the passing of Joe on December 27, 2008 with his family by his side. Joe was born in Slovenia on August 6, 1943 and came to Canada in 1967, where he and his brothers worked in the logging and sawmilling industry in Prince George. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Marinka; sons Robert (Anica) Novak, David (Cara) Novak; daughters Nancy (Brad) Johnson, Julie (Michael) Naegeli; eleven precious grandchildren as well as his mother Terezija; brothers Tony, Henry, Metod and Ciril; sister Marija and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Slovenia. Joe was predeceased by his father Max, brother Max and sister Cveta.
We would like to recognize and thank Dr. Michael O’Malley for his endless support, commitment and care that he provided to Joe and his family. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Bishop for his care.
Prayers for family and friends was held on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Assman’s Funeral Chapel, 1908 Queensway Street. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 887 Patricia Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, Joe’s wish was to improve cancer care in Northern BC. Memorial donations may be made to “Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation”.
