Joyce Hope Alcock Isaman passed away Friday, October 28, 2005 at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital, at the age of 84.

Joyce was born to Wymder and Valley Alcock on October 22, 1921 in Stettler, Alberta. She was the oldest of four children.

Joyce married Charles Gunson Isaman on February 18, 1945 in Stettler, Alberta and settled on the family farm Gadsby, Alberta. Their oldest daughter Mary Ellen was born in December 1945. When Mary Ellen was a small child, the family followed Joyce’s parents to Vancouver, B.C.

In March 1953 their daughter Audrey Fay was born.

Joyce moved to Quesnel in 1973 where she resided with Audrey.

In her younger years, Joyce was an avid gardener and truly enjoyed her plants, both inside the house and out.

Joyce’s passion in life was doing her family genealogical research for both her and her husband’s families. Many long hours were spent at her desk researching family history. Oh the joy she felt when she was able to connect her families. Family was the most important aspect of her life.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1971 and her brother Jerry Alcock in 2005.

Joyce is survived by her daughters Mary Ellen Williams and Audrey Isaman, grandchildren Vickey Hanemaayer, Mike (Stephanie) Hanemaayer, Edward Isaman and Crystal Smith, great grandchildren Michaela Hanemaayer, Shaya Hanemaayer, Ethan and Dayton Isaman.

Joyce is also survived by her sisters Merle Jacobson, Hazel Leslie and sister-in-law Jean Alcock, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

The family wishes to thank all those who touched Joyce’s life with such compassion and love. Home Support workers, Kathy, Diana, Merle, Saija, Debbie and many others, to the nurses at G.R. Baker who looked after her this past month and treated her with care and kindness, Dr. John Havens who was her family doctor for 30 years, Dr. Stahls for the compassion and understanding he showed in his care, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for the memorial service and luncheon provided.
