Karl was born in Kreiglach, Austria the 8th of 9 children. He got his love of animals and horses growing up on his parent's farm. In 1954 he came to Canada for adventure, landing in Ontario he worked his way across Canada and ended up in the Cariboo. After 5 years he went back home for a holiday and met Gerda. They married in November 1959 and moved back to BC. Karl worked in various small sawmills around the Cariboo area, an excellent self-taught carpenter he built many houses in the area each one bigger to accommodate his growing family. He realized his dream farm on the Quesnel River where he lived with Gerda and their 5 children, raising cows and Karl's beloved horses. His whistling was heard throughout the valley. Karl was a hard worker always ready to lend a hand to the neighbours and friends. After retiring from the farm, they moved closer to town where he kept active until illness overtook him.
He passed away with his loving wife and family by his side.
We will miss him.
