Dec 1, 1963 - Apr 21, 2018
It  is with profound  sadness that the family of Kim McIvor announces her sudden but peaceful passing at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel on April 21.

Kim  was born in Vancouver on Dec. 1. 1963. The McIvor family moved  to  Lillooet when Kim was nine years old. She graduated  from Lillooet Secondary School and began her career in the health care field working as a housekeeper at Lillooet District Hospital.

Kim and Pete Thumand moved to the Quesnel area approximately 20 years ago. They raised horses and blue heelers and started their birch syrup business. She began working at Northern Health immediately and became a dedicated member of the Four Rivers Co-operative Board.

Kim's life changed forever in September 2014 when she was severely injured in a motor vehicle accident. She became an inspiration to many with the courage, determination and grace she displayed as she battled back from a spinal cord injury to return home to Quesnel, resume her career as a support services manager with Northern Health (a position she held until her death) and continue to be an active member of her community.

She  will be  remembered  for  her  thoughtfulness, bubbly laugh, writing talent and love of animals. She is survived by her parents Janice and Clarence McIvor; her brother Kent and sister-in-law Kelly and their girls Katrina and Kiarra; her longtime partner Peter Thumand; her aunt Ann Ure of Lillooet; her uncle Munroe Archibald of Sidney; her McIvor relatives in Princeton; her Ure relatives in Vancouver; and many, many friends, both in Lillooet and Quesnel.

A Celebration  of Life will be held in Lillooet at a later date. Donations in memory of Kim  may be made to  a  charity of your choice,  the  Lillooet Hospital Foundation or G. R. Baker Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
