1930-2019 ~ The family of Lesia Graham are sad to announce the passing of their mother on May 6th, 2019 at the age of 88. Lesia will be lovingly remembered by her children and their families: Rod Graham (Terry), Kathy Jaffary (Tony), Judy Young (Russ), and Theresa Grant (Mike). She was a phenomenal grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Lesia was predeceased by her devoted husband, Ronald Graham.
Growing up in Vancouver she was blessed with a large Ukrainian family that provided us with strong family values. She settled in Burnaby in the 1950's with her loving husband Ron. She was active in St. Francis de Sales Parish and was a long-time member of the CWL, Catholic Women’s League.
Mom loved music and from an early age played the piano, the violin, and she also loved to sing. Her expertise at playing the violin enabled her to play for the Vancouver Junior Symphony. Her love of music was only surpassed by the love for her family.
Lesia visited Quesnel for 35 years spending her summers with 3 of her children who reside here. They stayed at Roberts Roost where she organized many activities and crafts for her grandchildren. Lesia loved to cook. Even from her 5th wheel she was able to create many fabulous meals, snacks, and her famous baking. These summers will be firmly etched in our memories.
Mom was willing to try anything if it involved doing things with her children. She even completed the Bowron Lake Chain at the age of 78 with Rod, Kathy, and Judy.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Dunrovin, Dr. Fine, and Dr. Obanye for the excellent care they provided for our mother. Also, a very special thank you to Ann Thomas for the guidance and support she provided for our family and for her loving care for Lesia.
Her beautiful smile, zest for life, and positive attitude will be truly missed. She was an inspiration to us all, she touched the lives of many. Mom was the pillar of excellence that we should all aspire to.
A funeral service was held for Lesia at St. Francis de Sales in Burnaby on May 13.
