Born January 16, 1926 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, James Alexander Lorne Godfrey, known by all as “Lon”, left this life on his own terms, as to be expected, on August 20, 2014 at the age of 88. Lon leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Gwen, his 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Lon loved life and lived it to the fullest. His passions included downhill skiing, scuba diving, fishing and travelling. He enjoyed sitting in the sun, listening to music, going for drives and cruising in his boat.

He was a member of, and served in the Canadian Navy, the BC Police and the RCMP. He had many business interests, including insurance, real estate, and commercial property. For many years he was a Notary Public in Quesnel, BC.

Lon was an honest and caring man, who made friends wherever he was in the world, and he believed in doing whatever he could for the betterment of the communities in which he lived.

He was a Past President of the Cariboo Real Estate Board and the Quesnel Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Quesnel Hospital Board and the School Board. A Quesnel City Councillor for 12 years, Lon was also active in the Kinsmen, the RCMP Veterans Association, and the Rotary Club.

Lon did anything for his children, believing that his family should experience what life and the world around them had to offer. The only thing he did not enjoy was getting old. So off you go to your next adventure, and say “hi” to all the guys. He will be greatly missed by us all. We love you, and thank you, for everything, Dad.

“I won’t say goodbye, I’ll say, see you again!”
