A life well lived: A husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, pioneer, rancher, saw miller, land clearer, pilot, traveller, craftsman, woodworker, carpenter, cook, fisherman, hunter and family man. He was all of these and so much more.

It saddens us to announce that Lorne Garfield Edward Mufford passed away September 14, 2011 in the Quesnel Hospital with family by his side. Lorne was just 2 weeks shy of his 89th birthday. Born in Langley, BC on September 29th, 1922 he came to the Quesnel area in 1934 with his parents Garfield and Sylvia Mufford and sisters Phyllis, Mildred and Olive. As time passed Lorne and his father owned and operated the G & L Mufford Sawmill.

Lorne married Jackie Schantag in 1961 until her passing in 1979. In 1993 Lorne then married Florence Williams.

Lorne is predeceased by his parents Garfield and Sylvia Mufford, sisters Phyllis Cruikshank and Mildred Mighton, wife Jackie and brothers in-law Lester Cruikshank and Wilson Oakes.

He leaves to mourn his passing: wife Flo, son David (Chris) of Quesnel, daughter Lorna (Dan) Fletcher of Kamloops, grandson Steve Mufford of Quesnel (ex wife Angela), great grandchildren Andrew and Dustin, granddaughter Kim (Paul) Ewen of Prince George, great grandchildren Matthew and Dillon, granddaughter Julie (Jim) Boesem of Quesnel, great grandchildren Emily and Eric, grandsons Kailen (Kristine) Fletcher great daughter Chloe, Josh Fletcher, granddaughters Shallyn and Ariana Fletcher all of Kamloops. As well step-children Corinne Mufford (Hugh), Norm (Chris) Williams and Chuck (Toni) Williams and families. Lorne is also survived by sisters Olive Oakes (Quesnel) and Dolly (George) Fehr of Prince George, brother in-law Doug Mighton (Quesnel) and many nieces and nephews, a favorite aunt Lucille (Toots) Baker (Kersley) and many, many cousins throughout the province and around the world. Not to mention all the many friends that Lorne made and kept throughout his life time.

Let us remember the smiling, the laughing, the talking, the sharing, the caring and the loving. Let us remember the good times because there were many...
