Jul 18, 1949 - Feb 4, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Lyle Douglas Cook announce his passing on February 4th, 2018.  Lyle was born on July 18th, 1949 to parents Carl and Mae Cook in Bowsman, Manitoba, where he lived on the family farm with his sister Veda, and three brothers Cliff, Dean, and Lynn.

Lyle had a great passion for sports and the outdoors.  He was an avid triathlete and runner, and completed the Vancouver marathon in under three and a half hours. He loved skiing, and spent many winters with his family and friends at mountains around the province, especially Whistler and Blackcomb.

He also loved golfing, curling, cycling, hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.  He was adventurous and traveled often, exploring many parts of the world with his wife Kathy, friends, and family.  He also loved to play card games, and was a junior bridge master.

More than anything Lyle loved social gatherings and spending time with his wife, kids, grandchildren, and friends.  He was always happiest next to his BBQ with a glass of wine in his hand, surrounded by family and friends.

Lyle will always be fondly remembered for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and mischievous twinkle in his eyes.  His love and pride for his family was unconditional.  Lyle was loving and devoted husband to Kathy, cherished father to Carrie and Ryan (Hannah) and playful and proud Papa to Sophie, Sam, and Jonah.  He will also be deeply missed by his large extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the United Church in Quesnel at 2 pm on Saturday, February 10th.  A celebration of his life is being planned from 3 to 5 pm, details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lyle's name to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada for research.  More information can be found at www.alzheimer.ca.
