Mary Ann Ruckle, nee Reis, passed away June 28, in her 93rd year, she was predeceased by her husband Don. Mary was born in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, the last child in a family of 17 siblings.
In the late 1940's, following a large cohort of her family to Port Alberni, Mary soon paired up with Don and started a family. Mary, Don and two young sons arrived in Quesnel in the fall of 1953. A third and final child, a daughter arrived in 1962.
In the early 70's, with the two boys moved out, Mary and Don decided to try another lifestyle, built a lakeside home in Osoyoos, moving there with their daughter. Mary had to leave Osoyoos where she lived independently into her 90th year, she was in care, in Victoria, for the last two years of her time.
Mary is survived by two sisters, two sons and a daughter. There are 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In spite of hardships, her time in Quesnel was the best part of her excellent adventure.
