Mary Louise Stefan (nee Houseman) passed away at G.R. Baker Hospital in Quesnel, on April 30, 2008 at the age of 72 years. Mary will be dearly missed by her children, Robert (Cherie), Ernie (Nancy), Sandy (Ron) Heaton, Cindy (Todd) Skinner and her grandchildren Rae-ann (Forrest), Dennis, Nicholas, Chelsea, Amy, Ryan, Randy, Greg, Jessica, Haley, Lisa, Samantha and great granddaughter Saige. Her brothers Harvey (Esther) Houseman, Grant (Ann) Houseman, sister Odeal Danczak and their families.

A celebration of life was held for Mary on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Northstar Baptist Church in Quesnel with Pastor John Nicholson officiating.

Mary was born on January 25, 1936 in Williams Lake, BC. She grew up on her grandfather’s farm in Buffalo Creek. Mary married Butch on March 9, 1954 in Fort St. John. They lived in several places in BC including Wells until finally settling in Kersley in 1962, where they raised their four children.

Mary spent many years involved with the gymkhanas in Kersley, Dragon Lake, and Bouchie Lake, and she entered many parades, making costumes for both the horse and rider, and won several ribbons. Mary had a passion for horses, dogs, hockey (Vancouver Canucks) and baseball (Blue Jays).

Mary will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all.

The family would like to thank all of Mary’s care givers at G.R. Baker Hospital, Palliative Care, those at Northstar Baptist Church that were involved in the preparation of Mary’s Celebration of Life, and family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.
