It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Nico Mol on June 24, 2010. Nic was born in Holland (The Netherlands) on October 18, 1917 and immigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s. Nic spent his early time in the Wells area, where he tried his hand at trapping. This is where he acquired his nickname - Trapper Nic that many knew him by. Eventually, he moved into Quesnel, where he worked for West Fraser as a lumber piler. He retired in 1982 and spent the next 25+ years travelling throughout Canada and making trips back to Holland to visit his family.

Nic never owned a vehicle and mostly he walked or biked everywhere he wanted to go - for many years this was from out on Schemenaur Road into Quesnel. As he got older that walk was a bit far, so in 2004 he moved to Williams Subdivision, it was closer to downtown - it is only a 2km walk. Nic walked these 2km almost every day rain or shine.

No service by request. Donations in Nic’s memory can be made to the Quesnel SPCA or the charity of your choice.
