Norah Stuart-Scholefield

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Norah Isabell Stuart-Scholefield, two months short of her 90th birthday.

Mom was born in Chilliwack, March 1927 to Thomas and Priscilla Campbell, being the eighth of nine children.

She married Duke (W.K.) Stuart-Scholefield in 1947, and they started their married life in Hope BC. They lived at Galiano Island, in Duncan and at Knight Inlet: in 1956 finally settling in Quesnel where Dad drove logging truck for Garner Brothers. After Dad passed away in 1987 Mom moved to Penticton returning to Quesnel in 2008 to be closer to her children.

Mom worked in a variety of jobs including many positions at Duncan, St Paul’s, as well as Quesnel hospitals; finally retiring from Weldwood.

Mom was competitive; winning many trophies and awards throwing horseshoes, playing darts and bowling. Her friends at Quesnel Bowling made her bowling especially enjoyable! She often said “she lived to bowl”. The most senior bowler at 89 years young she still bowled twice a week and was looking forward to the new bowling alley where there were to be no stairs! Mom belonged to Penticton Elks for 30 years, bowling on the same Elks team with the same teammates, traveling throughout the province winning many Provincial awards and trophies.

Mom’s other passion was knitting, many of her special friends were treated to one of her afghans. No mistake was too small to tear out and start again. Her afghans are indeed special-no mistakes in them.

She will be missed by her siblings: Dot Morris of Vernon, Marj Adams of Chilliwack and Ted (Joyce) Campbell of Quesnel. Her children: Colleen (Ron Harnden), Liz (Bud Miller), Wilf (Cheryl) and Gwen (Wayne Marshall). Her grandchildren: Jim (Tina), David (Lynne), Becky (Brian), Carly (Justin), Krista (Brent), Wilf and Charles (Jenna). Her great grandchildren: Marissa, Amanda, Ashley, Justin, Haely, Thomas, Justin Jr, Jenna, Bradley, Jorja and Kaeden She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, as well as her many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Anglican Church Hall,

465 Kinchant St, Quesnel, at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 8, 2017.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the

Heart and Stoke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
