It is with heavy hearts that the family of Olive Grace Oakes announce her passing on October 12, 2020.
Olive was born December 31, 1926 in Milner BC to Garfield and Sylvia. The Mufford family moved to Moose Heights September 29, 1936. Prior to getting married, Olive worked at Royal Columbia Hospital and later G.R. Baker Hospital as a nurses aid. She married her beloved James (Wilson) Oakes January 15, 1947 and they had four children Jim, Jack, Lorelei and Olivia (who sadly passed as an infant). They built a cozy homestead where they raised their children and were active in volunteering for their community.
Olive was very hardworking, growing flower and vegetable gardens, garage sales on weekends with her sister and hosting friends and family for various occasions and providing delicious meals. She worked 30 plus years part time for the Quesnel School District. She made time for everyone and made everyone feel special.
Olive was active and dedicated to her children and grandchildren and later great grandchildren. In 2002 Olive and Wilson moved into Fraser Village, where she remained until her passing.
Olive is survived by her son Jim (Nancy) Oakes, Lorelei (Terry) Croy, grandchildren Toby, Coralee, Bart and Shawna (Dwayne) and great grandchildren Darian, Delany, James, Mason, Reeve and Tanner and her sister Dolly (George) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Wilson in 2008, son Jack who was tragically killed in a car accident when he was 18, daughter Olivia, brother Lorne and sisters Mildred and Phyllis.
Olive was a loving soul who always had a cup of tea and baked goods ready for those who visited her. She loved her family and friends deeply and will forever be missed and loved by all those who knew her.
