Raymond Thor (Ray) Peebles passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020 at Langley Lodge at the age of 93. Ray was a loving and devoted husband to Beth, who passed in 2003.
He is survived by his children David (Jackie), Barbara (Allan), Stephen (Dao) & Joanne (Andrew); grandchildren Brenda, Julie, Mike, Nick, Jeff, January, Jill, Tiffaney, Chris, Jenna, Dave, Tintin and 17 great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Ray moved with Beth, his bride, to Quesnel in 1948. He actively served his community for more than 60 years as a member of St Andrew's Church, the Canadian Cancer Society, the GR Baker Hospital Board, the Friends of Barkerville, the Fireman's Band, and of course his all-time favourite, hockey. Ray was honoured by Hockey BC (BCAHA) with a lifetime membership and the "Diamond Stick" award for his lengthy service to hockey at all levels, both in Quesnel and throughout the province. Ray served as a President of the Quesnel Minor Hockey Assoc., the Quesnel Kangaroo Hockey Club, the Cariboo Hockey League, the B.C. Junior Hockey League, and the B.C. Amateur Hockey Assoc.
In their retirement, Ray & Beth travelled to many countries not only as tourists, but also to discover their "roots", and created lasting friendships with a number of people they met during their travels.
A service in Ray's memory will be held at a later date.
In memory of Beth & Ray Peebles, donations may be made to The Quesnel Foundation.
