Robert (Bobby) Schonke was born in the G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital on May 14, 1955, the youngest child of John and Irene Schonke. Bobby was born with Down Syndrome and lived in care from the time he was 4 until he died on January 6, 2012.

Bob was a huge tease who enjoyed life immensely, taking great joy in going to church, music, dancing with Brenda, loo-loo (ski-doo) rides, long, hot bubble baths, popping balloons, flowers, teasing his caregivers, and going to Ralph’s for haircuts.

Bob was brought back to Quesnel in the early 1980’s and he loved spending weekends at home with Mom and Dad who had a big weeping willow in the back yard where he would spend every possible minute swinging with the tape player going close by. Bob truly appreciated a good cup of tea or coffee and a donut or some timbits.

Bob is survived and will be missed by his brothers: John (Dorothy), Dick (Donna), Marvin (Anne), Howie (Gina), Cliff (Debbie) and sister Dianne (Doug) Greenwood, former sisters in-law Joanne and Julie, his many nieces and nephews, and many loving caregivers and friends.

Bob is predeceased by Mom, Dad, nephews; Justin, Daryl and Ryan.

We would like to thank everyone for all the food, flowers, cards and love showered upon us during this difficult time. Love makes things so much easier to bear. Thank you to Pastor’s Cliff and Monte, Darin & Kirstyn, and ladies for all the help for the funeral. Thank you to Clayton’s for your love & kindness in the arrangements. And a humongous thank you to all of Bob’s caregivers and the nurses at Dunrovin and Dr. Buys for all the wonderful care Bob received over the years. It was greatly appreciated.
