The family of Roddy William McDonald sadly announces the passing of Roddy on July22, 2017 with his family by his side at the G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital, Quesnel B.C.

Predeceased by his wife May a W.W.2 Veteran.

He is survived by his daughter Carel McDonald and son Earl McDonald (Krystal), grandchildren Wade McDonald (Trayia) and Tera Nicholson(Adam) and great grandchildren Claire May Nicholson and Ryker McDonald. Roddy was born on a farm in Kerrobert Sask. At an early age he rode the rails to Vancouver where he worked on the tug boats, shipyards, Britannia and Bralorne Mines and construction. Roddy met his wife May in 1948 in Vancouver and moved to Quesnel in 1954. Roddy worked logging, lumber grader in sawmills, Quesnel Machinery and the Quesnel School District. In his latter years he started his own well drilling company called McDonald Water Wells and drilled over five hundred wells. Roddy was a “Jack of all trades” and there did not seem to be anything he could not fix including his vehicles. He took up skiing and liked to play cards. He paddled the Bowron Lake chain three times and the last time at age 84. Roddy continued to drive until mid June and friends would often see him grocery shopping. A special thank you to the staff at G.R. Baker Memorial and Clayton’s Funeral Directors for final arrangements. Roddy will be sorely missed by his family and may his self determination, work ethic and wisdom be carried on in future generations.

A Celebration of Life will be held in early fall 2017 and will be announced on the radio and newspaper.
