Roland Elgert

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Roland Elgert.

He passed away at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital with his loving wife Hannah of 49 years and his family by his side.

Roland was born in Fawcett, Alberta on October 6, 1932 and moved to B.C. when he was 18 years old to work in the sawmills. He worked in sawmills from Prince George to Quesnel. The last place he worked was Weldwood of Canada. He retired in 1992.

Roland loved to garden, he grew all kinds of lilies. He loved watching all sports on TV and when he was younger he went skiing and started fishing and hunting with his sons.

Roland touched many in his remarkable and fulfilled life and will be greatly missed by all.

Roland is survived by his wife Hannah, sons; Tim, Clardyn, Bob, Allen (Amanda), step grandson Jared and granddaughter Samantha. He also leaves to mourn, 5 sisters Louria Young, Elenor Gilbert, Rita Andew, Evelyn Davis (Chester Hanson), Hildagard (Abe Weibe), two brothers Edward (Norma), Arnold (Minda), also numerous nieces and nephews and many relatives.

Roland was predeceased by his parents Edward and Vera, two infant daughters, Holly and Eva Rae.

The funeral was held at Clayton’s Funeral Chapel on October 25, 2006 with Terri officiating.

Interment followed at Quesnel Cemetery.
