Rolande (Rollie) Victoria Marie Monz

November 23, 2005

Rolande (Rollie) Victoria Marie Monz passed away in her sleep on November 23, 2005 after a long struggle with cancer.

A memorial service was held on Monday, November 28 at the Quesnel Legion Hall #94 with Father Dale Normandeau officiating.

Rollie was born on October 9, 1939 in Sudbury Ontario and later moved to Humbolt, Sask. It was there that she met her husband Leonard Monz of 37 years. Searching for a life of prosperity led them to Quesnel in 1970.

During her 15 years of employment with Weirs Lumber, Rollie found time to open and manage ‘Rollie’s Boutique’, a ladies clothing store. At the end of her tenure, she became an active member of the Executive Committee of the Royal Canadian Legion #94. Rollie volunteered her time liberally to Dunrovin Lodge and numerous other charity efforts.

She is survived by her husband Leonard Monz, eight children: Ernie Gilliard (Dave), Brian Gilliard (Bev), Barbara Monz (Dan), James Gilliard (Sherry), Micheal Gilliard (Karen), Irene Kirkpatrick (Leonard), Owen Monz and Sonia Monz (Grant); 12 grandchildren: Dianna (Kary), Adele (Matt), Christina, Savannah, Joshua, Adam, Rebecca, Kiefer, Robyn, Cory, Kurtis and Kyle; 3 great grandchildren: Samantha, Kody, Kaiden; her mother Elise Roy, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Ernest D’aoust in 1957 and Roland D’aoust.

Rollie will be sorely missed by all. Donations in her memory may be made to the Quesnel Cancer Society.
