It is with deep sadness that the family of Ronald Henry Moffat wishes to announce ‘Ronnie’s’ passing on October 10, 2010. He was 94 years old.

Ronnie was born in Quesnel on March 9, 1916. He was the oldest of five children born to Roddy and Ella Moffat. His youth was spent in ‘Town’. When he was 17 he moved to the Stump Ranch at Alexandria. Here he was lucky to live his dreams, being a cowboy, a logger and a rancher. His favourite was raising horses. He lived on the ranch for some 65+ years, doing the things he loved. Due to health reasons he was forced to sell and moved back to town. He lived on his own for some time before having to move to Baker Lodge and then to Dunrovin Lodge. (The Dunrovin Hilton).

Ronnie was a kind, generous and compassionate person. He loved nature. He loved sports. ‘Back in the day’ he was a good hockey player. He was an excellent runner, he won the Roddy Moffat Mile, edging out a professional runner brought in from the coast. He loved pulling and showing with his horses, winning many trophies and ribbons. He was a good neighbour, always willing to help someone out if it was needed. He was a man of his word. He was a good friend and enjoyed having a good time. He was proud of his accomplishments, yet humble. He accepted life’s challenges with self determination, never complaining, always with a smile.

Ronnie will be dearly missed by his family, his good friends and those he touched.

Ronnie will be missed by his son; Roy (Deborah) Moffat, stepdaughters; Ellen (Lou) Davidson, Marion (Ken) Hargrove, sister; Lois Hendry, brother; Thomas Moffat, grandchildren; Troy (Moffat) Giesbrecht, Roddy Moffat, Deborah (Davidson) Flemming, Roy Davidson, Scott Hargrove, Graham Hargrove, great grandchildren; Warren Davidson, Greg Davidson, Kendra Flemming. Ronnie is predeceased by his parents; Roddy & Ella Moffat, sister; Lorna Archibald, brother Billy Moffat.

The family would like to express their gratitude to those involved in Ronnie’s care in his later years, especially the caregivers from Homecare, Baker Lodge and Dunrovin Lodge. We thank you.

Quotes of Ronnie’s:

“I’m listening.”
