Rose (Hoy) Reardon

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Rose (Hoy) Reardon, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and long standing member of the Lumby community. She was a unique character whose personality brought joy to all who knew her.

Rose was born in Quesnel, B.C on January 15, 1923. She was number four in a family of twelve children. After graduating from highschool, she managed the drygoods department in C.D. Hoy Dept. Store. She was active in sports and a creative artist. Rose was also full of beans and had a way of making people laugh. She ultimately moved to Montreal where she met her husband and spent several years there. Finally, they moved to Lumby where the grass was greener and where she actively taught Tai Chi for many years. After a lengthy illness, Rose passed away in Vernon, B.C. on April 3, 2013.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Donald; daughter, Donna and son Allan; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Hoy; her sisters, Evelyn, Anne and Irene; her brothers, Ben and Jack.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Edith) and Tim (Teresa); grandchildren Angela, Aileen (Brandin), Eric, Savanna (Cameron), and Madison. Great grandchildren: Brandon, Teagan and Serenity. Sisters: May, Yvonne, Lona, Star, Lily (Frank) and Marline Liu .


A tea will be held in her memory at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Lumby on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
