Ryan Hugh Goldsmith

January 21, 2007

Ryan Hugh Goldsmith was born December 11, 1958, the youngest of 7 children, to Billie & Florence, in Kindersley, Sask. He passed away on January 21, 2007 at the family home in Quesnel.

Ryan was raised on the family farm in Hoosier, Sask. He headed west to B.C. in the ‘70’s, where he started his career as a cement mason. He returned to Saskatoon where he met and married Joanne (Holliday) in 1984.

The first 5 years of marriage were spent in Hoosier. In 1989, the family moved to Kelowna, B.C. where Ryan ran his own cement finishing business.

In 1994, the family packed and moved north to Quesnel, continuing to run the finishing business and developed a Colorado Blue Spruce nursery on the family acreage. In between cement finishing and growing trees, a variety of animals could be found including pigs, cattle, geese and chickens, cats and dogs - always a farmer at heart.

In 2000, Ryan closed his business and went to work in Hinton, Alta, doing concrete restoration, making the commute home to Quesnel most weekends.

Ryan was a loving and dedicated husband, father, brother and uncle.

He taught his family about honesty, respect and good work ethics. Ryan became ill in October, 2005 and fought a determined and courageous battle until his passing.

He leaves to treasure his memory, his wife of 22 years Joanne, son Riley (Ft. St. John), daughters Rickie (Airdrie) and Savanna (Quesnel). Brothers Tom (Sylvia) of Hoosier, George of Edmonton, and sisters Lynne (Hank) Bouchard of Penticton, Sheryl (Jim) Loken of Saskatoon, and Lannell (Tom) Kleinsasser of Rosetown. Parents In-law Don & Audrey Holliday and brother-in-law Wes (Dorothy) Holliday, and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Ryan was predeceased by his mother Florence, father William, sister Phyllis Sanderson and nephew Craig Sanderson.

A memorial service & interment was held on January 27, 2007 in Hoosier, Sask. On January 31, 2007, a memorial service was held in Quesnel at Clayton’s Funeral Chapel.
