Sadie Kammer

Funeral services for Sadie Eloise Hilda Kammer, who passed away July 21, 2004 at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital, Quesnel, B.C. was held July 26, 2004 at Clayton’s Funeral Chapel, Rev. Teri Meyer officiating. Burial was in Quesnel Cemetery.

Sadie was born on the family homestead, Aug. 16, 1922 where she was raised and educated at Sturgis, Saskatchewan. She worked at several jobs including the Sturgis Drycleaners, and as a cook in Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia.

On Nov. 11, 1945, she married Rudy Kammer where they resided in Sturgis until 1959 when she and her husband and son, Raymond moved to Williams Lake, B.C.

In 1964 they moved to Dunkley where she was employed as a cook by Dunkley Lumber. After her husband’s retirement in 1980, they moved to Hixon and later to Quesnel, where she was employed by Home Care. She resided in Quesnel and area for the past 24 years.

Sadie will always be remembered for her “down to earth” manner, delicious meals and talent for baking and crocheting. Her “welcome sign” was always out. She was an excellent hostess.

Sadie was predeceased by her brother Hilding, father and mother Henry and Elsie Nelson of Sturgis, brother Norman and most recently, husband Rudy in 1997. She is survived by her only son Raymond of Quesnel, brothers Ray Nelson (Pearl) of Victoria, BC, Russell Nelson (Marie) of Medicine Hat, Alta., Morris (Darlene) Nelson of Nanaimo, BC, sisters, Lorraine Harder (Jack) of Coquitlam, BC and Elaine Cook (Bud) of Precceville, Sask.
