The family of Sarah Shipley is saddened to announce her sudden passing on July 28th, 2020 at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster at the age of 47.
Sarah was born in West Middlesex England on July 16th, 1973 and grew up in Vancouver, BC. Sarah graduated from Kitsilano Secondary in 1991, attended UBC and graduated in 1998 with a bachelor of science in forest management.
Sarah owned and operated Bo-Peep Boutique from 2004 until 2015, when she returned to school to become a teacher and graduated in 2017 with her bachelor of education from UNBC. She became the French immersion teacher at QJS immediately after graduation.
Sarah was a devoted mother, wife, friend, teacher, business owner, forester, coach, athlete, volunteer, and event organizer among many things.
She will be forever missed by her husband Mike Sakakibara and their children Alefa and Kai. Sarah is survived by her sister Katharine (Murray) and father George (Veda), stepsister Carla (Pius), stepbrother Charles (Karina) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sarah was predeceased by her mother Sandra Shipley.
Due to Covid-19 complications, a celebration of life for Sarah will be held at a future date.
