Shirley Ann Kohlen

September 26, 2003

With great sadness and regret we must announce the passing of Shirley Kohlen. After a short fight with cancer, she lost her battle on Sept. 26, 2003.

Shirley is survived by her husband Allen and six children daughters; Debra (Joseph) Kendall, Cheryl McIntyre, Heather (Jim) Larke, and stepchildren, Christine (Lorne) Mairs, Brian (Laureen) Kohlen and Lance (Sandi) Kohlen.

She also leaves behind one sister Marilyn (Barry) Bishop, Eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many friends and extended family members.

Shirley was born on November 27, 1937 in Dawson City, Yukon.

During her life she spent time living in Vernon, Duncan and Quesnel. It was in Quesnel that she received her high school education. After a few years absence, she returned to Quesnel where she met and later married Allen Kohlen. They had 32 years together.

Shirley got enjoyment from many things during her lifetime. Next to reading, gardening, golf, travel and her study of Genealogy, she received great pleasure from being with her friends and family - especially her grandchildren!

Although her lifetime was shorter than we all would have liked, she has left a positive imprint on many lives and she will be sadley missed.

A tea in Shirley's honor will be held at the Quesnel Legion, Saturday, October 4, 2003, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Quesnel Hospital, Palliative Care Unit would be welcomed.
