With deep sadness

we announce the sudden

passing of our loved one, Sky Smaill, June 10, 2010. Sky was born July 6, 1974 on Saltspring Island to

Christine Louie who in 1976, met Bob Allen who became Sky’s ever-caring and loving father. Bob

brought with him his 3 yr old son, Chris Allen

and the two brothers remained the best

of friends. The family settled in Quesnel

where Sky lived for 31 of his 35 years.

Sky was an outgoing, lively and precocious child who spoke several words by 5 mths, walked by 9 mths and carried on lengthy conversations by 24 mths. At 5 yrs, he spun fancifully complex stories and also recited by heart a 45 min. rendition of his favourite story at the time, that of Don Quixote de La Mancha.

Sky was a terrific athlete and excelled in whatever sport he took up. He could always throw a ball farther and faster than anyone his age.

He was also an honour roll student, though his keen intelligence often took the role of prankster and joker with his closer friends.

In 1993, Sky started work in the family business, ABC Communications. As he loved technology, he enjoyed selling computers and managing ABC’s Quesnel cell phone store. His customers responded to his personable, laid-back, patient and helpful manner.

Sky loved many sports - including mixed martial arts, hockey and especially baseball. His team mates said of him, “Sky’s love of the sport of slo-pitch, (shortstop was his favourite position), was obvious to all who played either for or against him. His determination and fearless ways could often be seen by his bruises and scraped knees.

Sky played with heart, honour and sportsmanship, and was well respected for these qualities in the slo-pitch community.” Close friend, Derek Barr remembers Sky as, “a caring person who would always put others needs before his own.” His sharp wit and clever sense of humor

will be missed.” Another close friend, Jennifer Boudreau,

reflects,” Sky was profoundly humorous,

creating smiles and laughter continuously.

He was unselfish and always put the needs

of others above his own. I will remember him

for his compelling conversations, his wisdom, and his supportive nature...a truly lovely man

to many.”

Sky has slipped away from us and our lives will be forever emptier.

Our dear Sky is now replaced by the cherished memories

we shared with him.

We truly miss him and hold him deeply within our hearts.

Sky is lovingly remembered by his parents, Christine

& Bob Allen, his brother

and sister-in-law, Chris

and Shadi Allen, his Nana, Lila Louie, his many relatives, dear friends, co-workers,

team mates and colleagues.

Clouds circle upon aqueous horizons morning moves the tides.

I think of our love reaching inner rivers flowing to the sea.
