In loving memory ~
With heavy hearts, the family of Tak Kitamura announces his passing on May 18, 2025. Tak passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Tak was born on July 8, 1937, to Yajiuemon and Sue in Vancouver, BC. In 1942, Tak moved to Kamloops with his family and attended Stuart Wood Elementary School and went on to graduate from Kamloops High School in 1956.
Tak attended the Radio College of Canada in Toronto and then moved back to Kamloops in 1963. This is where he met his wife Kaz (Yamada).
Tak married Kaz on October 23, 1965. He took a job as a Pipeline Technician with Westcoast Petroleum in 1966 and transferred to the Prince George division in 1969. It was here where their first son Craig was born. In 1972, Tak and his family moved to Compressor Station 5 just outside of Quesnel and had their second son, Derek. He continued to work for Westcoast Petroleum for 27 years and retired in 1995.
Tak loved spending time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to Sunday dinners with his family, especially his 5 grand daughters. He also loved golfing in the summer and curling in the winter. In retirement, Tak particularly enjoyed his annual trips with friends and family down south to camp and golf.
Tak is survived by his wife Kaz, sons Craig (Carrie) and Derek (Larissa), grandchildren Presley, Courtney, Kassia, Kira and Taylor, siblings Harry and Kats (June), as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the many nurses and care aids at GR Baker Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you please donate to the charity of your choice
