Theoris Dorrell (Jim) Miller passed away, peacefully in his sleep on Friday the 19th of August 2011 at the age of 88 years while residing at Dunrovin Lodge in Quesnel, British Columbia. Dorrell was predeceased by his daughter, Violet, his mother, Rinta, father, John, eight brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Louise Betker (Greg) of Fort St. James and Wendy Miller of Quesnel, grandson Kent Betker (Tara Paige) of Airdrie, Alberta, Bob, Char Dhensaw of Logan Lake, B.C. , (Kyle and Tyler) of Burnaby, B.C.

Dorrell was born in Twin Falls, Idaho and moved to Canada at a young age with his family. He resided in the Lone Butte area during his “wrangling” years. In 1942 he joined the army and was deployed to Europe where he served until 1945. Upon returning home he married Winifred Rosenau and had three daughters. Dorrell was employed by the P.G.E. Railroad for many years, and after a career change worked in the forestry and mill industry, retiring in Quesnel. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Legion.

Dorrell’s pass times included hunting and fishing (any time he could), reloading ammunition, breaking horses (in his younger years). He was fond of all animals especially his cat “Turkey”.


In lieu of flowers Dorell requests that donations be made to the Local SPCA in Quesnel.


As a request of Dorrell’s there will be no formal Funeral Service. A Memorial will be announced at a later date in September of 2011.
