Thorstein (Tom/Red) Johannesen passed away peacefully at Dunrovin Lodge, May 30th 2009.

Dad was born at Rjukan, Norway July 29th 1918 and immigrated to Canada in 1927 boarding the Celtic and began a lengthy trip across the Atlantic, settling in Archerwill, Saskatchewan. In 1939 Dad moved to Milburn Lake to set up the homestead with his parents. He joined the Army in 1940. Dad married our Mother Cherrie Ruth Franks, Aug 5 1943 while Dad was in the army. Dad and Mom homesteaded in Bouchie Lake, then building in Quesnel in 1954 and raising their 5 children. Dad worked for the town of Quesnel and then was employed as a Foreman at Weldwood of Canada until retirement.

As a member of the Legion, he enjoyed curling, horseshoes, card games, music and a pint.

Dad touched each of our lives in a different and special way. He held strong values of trust, honesty and friendship. We will miss you Dad.

Dad is survived by his 5 children, Sylvia (Arden)Miller, Tom Johannesen, Marg Johannesen, Judy Johannesen, Karen (Mike) Allan. His sister Margaret Hughes, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his Mother Hanna, Father Einar and brother Oswald Johannesen.
