Our loving Mom's life journey peacefully ended Aug. 9th. Fittingly it was Sunday - her favorite day. Marit and Tor were at her side till her final breath. She was definitely the heart beat of our family.
As if on cue, Mom's sisters in Norway called to share their thoughts - moments before she passed.
Tutta is predeceased by her husband, Alan (2006); son, Ken (2019); & grandson, Alistair (1999).
Survived by daughter, Marit (family: Devin/ Lyndia/Skyler/Ethan; Dustin; Kirk/Hailey/ Harper; Alexandra) and Son, Tor & wife Myrna (Nathan); daughter-in-law, Kari; and Ken's daughter, Adriane & husband Travis (Emme). Also, 3 sisters (Eli, Margrethe, Aasgard) and brother, Hermod in Norway. Plus countless nieces, nephews & cousins in Canada, Scotland and Norway.
Born in Trysil, Norway 90 yrs ago, Tutta was eldest of 9 kids. After paediatric training in Oslo, Mom accepted an assignment in Nairobi, Kenya. By 1954 she was married to Dad (Alan) and started a family.
After 13 yrs in Kenya, our family of 5 immigrated to Canada. Mom was taken by the charm of Ontario, but the urge to be closer to family drew us to BC. Now Mom could join our family with her siblings' families - Astrid (Lars Fossberg) and her youngest brother, Bjorn (Ann).
For the next 50 yrs, Mom set strong roots in the Cariboo. Her infectious laugh, ready smile & amazing story telling touched everyone she met. Hence, she self proclaimed herself the "Queen of the Cariboo".
The past years we repeatedly discussed moving Mom closer to family. However, she was so practical, as well as, attached to the community that she couldn't leave.
Mom was determined to live independently and couldn't bear the idea of moving from her house. True to her wishes, God's house was her last move. Mom will be forever missed.
"Thru her guidance & values, Mom lives on in us"
