August 10, 1939 - February 28, 2021
It is with broken hearts that the family of Wallace Bubela announces his passing on February 28, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Wallace is survived by his wife Lorraine, sons Dale (Debbie- jo), Dean (Jenny), Darren (Keli), grandchildren Thomas, Connor, Megan, Anthony, Brendan, Alexander and siblings Mary, Stanley, Joseph, Janek, Alex, and their families.
Dad was born on August 10, 1939 in Poland. At the age of 19, he and his family made the lengthy journey by ship to Canada. They arrived in Saskatchewan where he worked on a farm. After some time, dad sought out a career as an auto body specialist. This self-taught trade took him to BC where his growing family spent time in Kitimat, Surrey, and 100 Mile House, before settling in Quesnel.
Together with his brother Stanley, he operated a successful auto body shop where many stories and laughs were shared with friends who often stopped by to visit. Dad had a reputation for his impeccable restoration of automobiles, and was frequently seen driving representatives during the annual Billy Barker Days parades.
Dad enjoyed spending time on his property, particularly when his family was there with him. He looked forward to his daily trips into town where he greeted everyone with a smile.
When he was younger, he enjoyed hunting, shing, and numerous trips to visit family. Dad strongly valued family and took pride in his sons' accomplishments. He was always very grateful for his grandchildren and the joy that they brought to his life. His beaming smile and warm hug at their presence will always be imprinted on them.
Although the majority of his family lived outside of Quesnel, dad was very conscientious about frequently phoning to check in and remain connected. He was a resourceful, independent, caring man who would give the shirt off his back, yet too stubborn and proud to accept anything in return. He is loved and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no public service.
