It is with deep sadness that the family of Walter Logan announces his passing on September 30, 2010.

Walter Stuart Logan was born October 24, 1946 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1958, his family moved to Kitimat, B.C. when his father was hired by Alcan.

Walt graduated from high school in 1965 and then went to Nelson, B.C. to complete the 7 months pre-apprenticeship millwrighting program before starting his millwright apprenticeship with Cominco in Kimberley, B.C. in 1966.

While in Nelson, he met Sharlene, his future wife. They were married in 1968. Walt completed his apprenticeship in 1971. They then moved to the Yukon for a brief time where their daughter, Sherri was born in 1971. Then Princeton, B.C. where their son, Steve was born in 1974, before settling down in Quesnel in 1975.

It was in the Cariboo that Walt truly felt at home. He worked for West Fraser Mills, then QRP before starting his welding and fabricating business - Logan Contracting all the while running his small farm in Moose Heights.

In 1993, he and Steve ran the service station in Wells where they put in long hours and made many lasting friendships during their year there.

Walt came back to Quesnel in 1994 and started his business ‘Two Mile Flat Tire’/Tirecraft with his son Steve. In 2005, Walt decided to retire.

He enjoyed being at home, working on his acreage at a more leisurely pace, making his wine, gardening and even becoming a terrific cook. Family and friends took great enjoyment tasting his latest creations and leaving with a recipe and hopefully even some leftovers.

Walt will be greatly missed by Sharlene, his wife of 42 years, daughter Sherri Fawdry (Brent), son Steve, (Cyndi nee Weber), his twin brother Wayne (Stephanie) from Powell River, and his 5 beautiful granddaughters, Paige, Camille, Tessa, Caitlin and Clarissa.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Quesnel Senior’s Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
