Wilfred Arthur Lowden of Nanaimo, BC died in the early morning of Oct.6th in Nanaimo Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He welcomed with dignity and grace what he considered to be his next adventure. He was 86 years old.

Wilf was born in Likely, BC on July 11, 1924. After serving in the Canadian Air Force during WW2, he returned to BC and married Ann Burns in Williams Lake on June 14, 1947. Ann and Wilf made their home in Quesnel where they raised their four children. Later on during his retirement years, Wilf built a log home on Shuswap Lake where the family spent many enjoyable times. He spent the last year or so of his life living with his youngest daughter, Teri and her husband, Bob in Nanaimo. He loved living with them and had a great friend in Jackson, their lively little dog, who kept him good company.

Wilf overcame many challenges in his life and spent his later years enjoying the results of his hard work and dedication to his family.

Predeceased by Ann in 2008, Wilf will be missed by his four children David (Maureen), Leslea (Daryl), Heather (Dave) and Teri (Bob), seven grandchildren Jeremy, Jason, Jordan, Dustin, Christian, Nicole and Jayme and eight great grandchildren Matthew, Marcus, Nathan, Noah (Wilfred), Ethan, Max, Eli and Madeline.

At Wilf’s request, no funeral will be held, rather his family will return his and Ann’s ashes to the Shuswap where they spent some of the best years of their lives.
