Wilfred Honor Patenaude passed away at home at 8:00 pm on December 5, 2008. He died of a respitory ailment, attributed to his heart.

Wilfred was born on the Patenaude cattle ranch, fifteen miles east of Horsefly, on February 1, 1921.

Wilfred’s mother was a school teacher and Wilfred went to Elementary school at Black Creek and a nearby high school in Keremeos, where he lived with an Uncle and Aunt. Wilfred was the first of his family to attend University, where he received a degree in Agriculture and studied mineralogy and geology.

By 1947, Wilfred had married Branwen Hughes who lived on the ranch with the Patenaude Family. Two children were born, Anne Christine and three years later a son David Honor.

Moving to Quesnel in 1960, Wilf became a Canada Manpower Councillor for twelve years. Retiring in 1972, Wilf and his son David built a house at Dragon Lake, where Wilf and Branwen have lived ever since.

Left to mourn are his wife Branwen, his son David and his wife Mary, a daughter Anne Christine and husband Kjell Nilsen, and a sister Ida Zirnhelt of Alberta.

Of his grandchildren are: Joseph (Nicole), Christina (Joon), Ida, Kimberly (Charles), David (Lailani) and great-granddaughters Kyla and Abigail.
