Wilhelmina (Mimi) Ponuick

Wilhelmina (Mimi) Ponuick passed away peacefully at Dunrovin Park Lodge on February 1, 2006 with her loving family by her side.

Mimi was born and raised in Kersley, BC to Theodore and Cornelia Arnoldus on December 18, 1919. She was married to Steve Ponuick on October 21, 1939 and they had three children, Harvey, Sharon and Ivy. They spent the early years of their marriage in Wells, BC until moving to Prince George in 1943 and finally relocating to Quesnel in 1970.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters (Sharon Duddy and Ivy Merrick), five grandchildren (Tracy Oleksewich, Blake Ponuick, Scott Ponuick, Lauralynne Hobbs and Alison Duddy) as well as five great grandchildren (Kirsten and Lauren Oleksewich, Jordan and Chelsey Ponuick and Curtis Hobbs).

Mimi was predeceased by her parents, husband Steve, son Harvey, brothers Harold, Theodore and Andre, and sister Josephine.

Mimi was a social person who loved to entertain and always welcomed people into her home. She cherished her house and garden. Mimi enjoyed curling, playing cards and being involved in family life. Her beautiful smile and gentle, kind soul will be sadly missed by all.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Clayton’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Canon Trev. Whiting officiating. A social to celebrate her life was held at the O.A.P. Centre after the service.
