December 5, 1954 - April 23, 2021
William Reid Herringshaw, of Quesnel BC, passed away on April 23, 2021 at GR Baker Hospital at 66 years of age.
Bill was born in Calgary on December 5, 1954. He moved to Surrey as a child and graduated from North Surrey Secondary School in 1972. He achieved a degree in Forestry at the University of British Columbia and went on to work as a Registered Professional Forester until his retirement in 2013.
Bill and his wife Barb were high school sweethearts and together, they attended UBC and received their degrees. They were married in the fall of 1978 and moved to Quesnel to further their careers and start a family.
They built their home on an acreage outside of town and enjoyed raising rabbits, poultry, horses and a variety of family pets. Bill was an active member of the Quesnel Fur and Feather Club for many years.
Barb and Bill welcomed two daughters, Amanda in 1986 and Julie in 1992. He spent the next several years as a loyal supporter of infinite ballet recitals, volleyball and basketball games and swim club meets.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, canoeing, and hiking with his family. Nature photography was an interest of his and resulted in many beautiful family calendars over the years. He also got a kick out of giving his daughters grief over their improper use of "pine cone" and "spruce needle," and quizzing them on the latin names for trees during family hikes as any proper Forester would.
He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. We will all miss him so very much.
Due to COVID, a memorial is not formally planned at this time. His wife and daughters plan to visit one of his favourite spots to spread his ashes and plant a tree in his memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in his name.
