CAMPBELL: William Tate died suddenly and tragically in the early hours of Saturday August 7, 2010 on a small island in Shawnigan Lake.

Born in North Vancouver, BC on March 15, 1985 the young man, currently living in Victoria, will forever lovingly be cherished and remembered by his family; mother Mercedes (formerly Barbara Anne of Quesnel) Benoit (Chemainus, B.C.), father Bob Campbell and his partner Deborah McKay (Wells, B.C.), sister Carianne (nee Benoit) and her husband Steve Williams, their children Jacob and Hannah of Ladner, B.C.; older brother Matthew Campbell and his partner Emma Garrod of Vancouver, grandparents Paul and Dorothy Benoit of Quesnel, B.C., uncles Rick (Sexsmith, Alberta) and Randy Benoit (Quesnel) as well as aunts, cousins and numerous friends.

Will spent most of his first 8 years living in Quesnel, then in Vancouver before finally moving to the Cowichan Valley in 1993. He graduated from Cowichan Secondary Highschool in 2003. Through his teen years he held a paper route and other odd jobs before going to work for Fun Pacific Golf Centre on the driving range and go kart track. This is where he undoubtedly developed his more recent passion for golf. He later went to work for Dan Morris Contracting on a portable sawmill until he went to work in Alberta the last four years for Precision Drilling on the rigs. His lifetime passions included fishing, rugby, football, golf, camping, hiking, snowboarding, and almost as importantly, hanging out with his friends and family.

Will touched the hearts and lives of so many people through his joyful exuberance, kindness, compassion and generosity. The Benoit/Campbell family wishes to thank the many of Wills’ friends, family and particularly Michaela Spencer and Crystal Lavigne for their vigilant effort in sustaining Will’s life until emergency paramedics could arrive. Our hearts go out to his 11 dear friends who were there by his side during this horrific accident. May we all find strength through these days in the sharing of memories and the spirit of William.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Moose Hall, 2244 Moose Road, Duncan BC on Friday August 20, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. Receiving anytime after 3:30 p.m. Will’s friends have established a fund to assist in his Celebration of Life and donations can be made at Craig St. Brew Pub.
