Amber’s fundraising update

Editor:

I would like to let everyone know what has been happening with my MS fundraising.

In January a tragedy hit our family. My oldest sister in California was diagnosed with end stage liver failure and not long to live. My family asked if I would go down and be with her until her children were able to go down and say “Goodbye”. In the middle of January, she asked for her kids to be with her because she didn’t think she could go another day. My sister then went into a comatose state for another couple of weeks and was transferred to San Francisco, hoping they could work a miracle. They did, she received a new liver on Jan. 30. As a part of her getting a new liver the family had to guarantee long-term care for her, for at least six months. This mostly involves making sure she takes all her meds on time.

With 17 different pills and insulin (drug induced diabetes) it can be hard for patients to keep track of them all when they have been worn down to the point she got to.

I returned home April 6 for a short breather and will be going back down to help her for a couple more months. Her life and reminding her to take prescriptions is worth a few months of my life and more. As for the money I have received I have a trust account set up. The ministry that I receive my disability pension from, has me provide the bank statement of the account every month to prove that I am not using the money for myself personally.

I will be having another garage sale at the end of April, and will be doing more fundraising events when I get back.  I have some friends and family that are also wanting to do fundraising for me when I’m gone. They know how much I can’t wait to have my life back, to be off medication and be full time employed.

Thank you everyone for donating and understanding what my family has been going through.
