Beijing visitors happy with hospitality

-

Editor:

Over the recent Billy Barker weekend, Quesnel School District hosted, for six days, 31 students and five teachers from the Beijing #8 School in Beijing, China. What an experience our guests had.

We exposed them to a full list of activities including the Crash to Pass, Rodeo, pancake breakfasts, the parade, Barkerville, the fair and midway, a tour of Fox Dairy and all the shopping in Quesnel.

Quesnel citizens were very hospitable and received our guests in true Cariboo fashion. I want to say a special thanks to Rick and Nadia Ezowski, Keith Sandve, Rebecca Devries, school trustee Ron Caskey and school district chairperson Caroline Mitchell for all their help in organizing and hosting our Chinese friends. And a special thanks also to all the home-stay families who hosted the students when they were here.

Our Chinese guests frequently commented on the beauty, the peacefulness and friendliness as well as the warmth they found in our community. They listed Quesnel as the highlight of their 15-day tour in Canada which included Banff, Toronto and Vancouver.

Thank you Quesnel and Billy Barker Days for showing off your best hospitality.
